Lubrizol's XGOzuki Challenge Helping to Restore the High Andes

Posted by Bianca McCarthy, Ph.D. on 06/19/2024

Across the globe, efforts are being made to address the issue of climate change. One shining example of this can be found in South America’s high Andes, with the reforestation initiative called Acción Andina. This grassroots project, coordinated by One Tree Planted and Global Forest Generation, is the first multi-country, large-scale initiative to re-plant the tress in the high-altitude native forests of the region.

Their work is already making a meaningful impact. Last year alone, the group restored more than 1,500 hectares of high Andes forests across Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Argentina. These newly planted forests will help to preserve essential wetlands, safeguard existing forests, and protect critical Amazon headwaters and endemic species.

At Lubrizol, we are proud to play a part in this project, with the successful completion of The XGOzuki Challenge.

The XGOzuki Challenge was a virtual endeavor that engaged Lubrizol customers and employees in embracing the outdoors while supporting Acción Andina. For every outdoor activity that was registered in the AtlasGo® app, Lubrizol made a donation to One Tree Planted, resulting in trees being planted in the Andes region.

During the XGOzuki Challenge, our Lubrizol Beauty team played a significant role in contributing to the reforestation effort. With 940 outdoor activities, they planted more than 500 trees. While Acción Andina strives to restore 1 million hectares of Polylepis forest throughout the Andes, every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

We invite you to join us and the global community in supporting Acción Andina. By volunteering or making a donation, you can contribute to the restoration of the Andes’ precious forests and help combat climate change. And while you’re out there embarking on outdoor adventures, it is essential to protect your skin, scalp and hair. Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient can provide complete exposome protection for beauty that lasts.

Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient – Made for today’s growing segment of nature lovers

The outdoor-focused beauty segment is growing fast. Brands that offer solutions tailored for use in the outdoors will, of course, be of great appeal to the growing number of nature-loving customers.

That’s why we developed Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient.

Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient is ideal for brands developing skin, scalp, or hair products that protect against the cumulative exposure to various environmental factors. This cosmetic active ingredient is derived from organic azuki beans and is rich in Azukides™ natural peptides, using biotechnology. In skin care, it has been demonstrated to improve skin tone homogeneity and brightness in skin phototypes II-VI. In hair care, it has been shown to provide protection and repair effects from the exposome-induced damage, including in leave-on and rinse-off products.

With more people aware of the dangers of not only UV radiation, but also pollution, pollen and global warming, there is growing demand for products that offer more complete protection from the outdoors. With Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient, we can now say goodbye to worries about the exposome, and hello to a worry-free outdoor experience.
