Surface Treatments

Dispersants are commonly used to aid in the dispersion of pigments, fillers, and other functional materials. In most instances the introduction of dispersant chemistries is done during the dispersion stage in application, where the particle/aggregate size is reduced. However, it can be advantageous to deposit the dispersant technology directly onto the particulate surface during its production to enhance the ability to then easily disperse the particles in future processing steps. These products are “surface-treated” pigments or fillers.

Lubrizol is dedicated to developing and delivering surface treatment solutions to inorganic and organic pigments and fillers that offer a number of unique, customizable benefits for many different types of applications.

Through decades of extensive dispersant research and a history of innovation, Lubrizol provides added value with this broad experience and a wide range of high-performance products. Our technology and knowledge in surface treatments are known to solve difficult challenges, offering the highest pigment and filler loadings, optimal color strength and gloss, and more.
