We’re focused on not only reducing our own impact on the planet through our processes, but also designing the products that solve the sustainability challenges faced by our customers.

 

To address the specific needs of the beauty and home market, Lubrizol Life Sciences (LLS) creates sustainable solutions to make a positive impact and solve challenges without sacrificing performance. These solutions operate around four pillars:

  • Low carbon footprint
  • Eco-designed manufacturing process
  • Sustainable supply chain

 

Our two latest beauty launches address the four pillars of LLS Sustainable Solutions.

 

Carbopol® Fusion S-20 polymer delivers the performance of an acrylates copolymer while offering multiple sustainability benefits. The polymer is inherently biodegradable. Its manufacturing process addresses the 12 principles of Green Chemistry. Carbopol® Fusion S-20 polymer also has a low carbon footprint and contains starch, a renewable resource with good traceability and no competition with food supplies.

 

Another example of our sustainable solutions is UplevityTM e-Lift peptide, an ingredient developed to maximize cosmetic benefits while minimizing environmental impact. Made from amino acids found in nature, its production addresses the principles of Green Chemistry. The amino acids used to make the peptide are mainly derived from fermentation – and the arable land needed for the annual production of this peptide is insignificant and ensures no competition with agriculture dedicated to the food chain.
