Carboset® 2966 is a non-yellowing water white acrylic copolymer emulsion designed for lacquer topcoats and sealers on wood, which provides a good balance between coating properties and cosolvent demand. Carboset 2966 exhibits low microfoam characteristics and fast, low-temperature bake properties. Coatings produced with Carboset 2966 demonstrate exceptional hardness, clarity, and appearance, as well as excellent print and block resistance, even at 140ºF. Carboset 2966 also develops excellent water resistance. Chemical and stain resistance performance exceeds that of traditional nitrocellulose lacquers and other hard thermoplastic emulsions. It also has very good sandability. The exceptional properties of Carboset 2966 make it suitable for many factory-applied, clear, water white wood lacquers, as well as DIY interior clear wood finishes. Carboset 2966 can be used to produce high performance kitchen cabinet finishes which pass the KCMA performance specification. Carboset 2966 can be blended with waterborne polyurethane emulsions, such as Sancure® 825, to further increase toughness, wear, chemical and stain resistance.
