Scientist: Ye Chen, Ph.D.

Title: Senior Application Scientist

Years with Lubrizol: 5

Location: Singapore

Education: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, National University of Singapore; bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Years of experience: 10

Focus: Dr. Ye is primarily responsible for leading application evaluation to develop new products with unique performance characteristics and a strong focus on skin care and sun care. She works with global and regional multidisciplinary teams, explores and investigates new technologies and materials, and supports the Asian Pacific technical service team to promote and commercialize Lubrizol's technologies and platforms for customer benefit. Dr. Ye also actively collaborates with institutions for open innovation.

Recent accomplishments: Recently, Dr. Ye has led Lubrizol’s technical studies on sun care applications and set up Asian Pacific sun care testing and formulation capabilities, which successfully established Lubrizol’s sun care authority in the region. Since 2020, Dr. Ye has also authored six articles about new formulation technology that have been published by the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC); made a presentation about emulsifier-free sunscreen development featuring polymer technology at the 2022 IFSCC UK; and delivered a speech on a novel formulation strategy during the 5th Intercontinental Personal Care Excellence (IPCE) conference in 2021.
