Shanghai, China — Lubrizol, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has announced that its new heavy-duty diesel engine oil solution, Lubrizol® CV1150, has successfully passed specification under China’s national standard GB D1. Demonstrating long-term hardware protection and cost-efficiency potential, Lubrizol® CV1150 excelled in a 100,000-kilometer extended oil drain interval road test. This achievement underscores Lubrizol’s technical leadership in addressing the stringent demands of China’s commercial vehicle market while providing innovative solutions to support emissions compliance and operational efficiency challenges.
Driven by China's "dual carbon" strategy, the heavy-duty commercial vehicle market is undergoing structural upgrades. OEMs are accelerating the launch of high-precision hardware systems compliant with China VI and future China VII emissions regulations, while end users continue to seek cost-effective operational solutions. As a critical medium in the powertrain, engine oil must achieve breakthroughs and balance across multiple dimensions, including emissions compatibility, long-term protection, and fuel efficiency.
The GB D1 standard, China’s first independently developed national diesel engine oil specification, is built upon four localized engine bench tests. It reflects the growing influence of domestic OEMs and emphasizes key performance attributes such as oxidation stability, wear protection, and compatibility with aftertreatment systems—factors that are becoming central to product competitiveness.
Developed based on the globally recognized API CK-4 standard, Lubrizol® CV1150 incorporates an innovative low-ash, after-treatment friendly formulation. In addition to meeting China VI emission standards, it proactively supports the protection needs of China VII aftertreatment systems. During GB D1 specification, Lubrizol® CV1150’s performance highlights the seamless integration of global innovation with localized application.
Test results indicate that during a 100,000-kilometer service cycle, key oil quality indicators remained stable. Component evaluations using the industry-recognized DIN 51349 method showed minimal wear and deposits on critical engine parts such as pistons, liners, and crankshafts. Notably, CV1150 delivered piston cleanliness and wear control, reducing ash buildup in the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and extending the maintenance interval for aftertreatment systems.
“Achieving both API CK-4 and GB D1 specifications is not only a testament to our technological expertise but also reflects our deep insight into aligning global standards with local market demands,” said Henry Liu, Vice President of Lubrizol Asia-Pacific and Head of Lubrizol Additive Asia Pacific. “As the commercial vehicle industry moves toward low-carbon and intelligent transformation, and China’s regulatory framework continues to converge with international standards, Lubrizol remains committed to continuous innovation, supporting industry partners in building sustainable competitiveness.”
As a pioneer in lubricant additive technology for nearly a century, Lubrizol has consistently led industry advancements. The success of Lubrizol® CV1150 is built on the company’s long-term investment in low-viscosity, extended-drain interval technology. Leveraging a modular formulation development system, this platform enables rapid customization for OEMs and provides lubricant manufacturers with differentiated technical reserves—driving the evolution of the commercial vehicle lubrication ecosystem toward higher efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
