If you have questions or would like additional information about Metalworking products, please contact us at industrial@lubrizol.com.
Lubrizol’s metalworking corrosion inhibitors provide temporary protection for various metals during metalworking, metal cleaning, and other water-based industrial fluid applications. Proper application of these additives ensures effective corrosion protection of metal parts during operations and in short term storage following operations. Product selection and use concentration depends on required performance parameters and compatibility with other fluid components.
Carboxylic acid corrosion inhibitors are supplied in a free acid, powder form. When neutralized with water-soluble alkaline sources (alkanolamines and/or hydroxides), the resulting salts are soluble in aqueous systems, and inhibit the corrosion of ferrous metals. Alkanolamine salts are generally more effective corrosion inhibitors than hydroxide salts.
Amine carboxylate corrosion inhibitors are liquid additive packages that provide protection against ferrous rust and corrosion. These products are typically applied in alkaline systems, and their performance is generally enhanced in the presence of additional reserve alkalinity.
Amine borate corrosion inhibitors are liquid additive packages that provide protection against ferrous rust and corrosion. These products are typically applied in alkaline systems, and their performance is generally enhanced in the presence of additional reserve alkalinity.
Non-ferrous corrosion inhibitors are specifically designed to prevent stain and corrosion of aluminum and/or copper alloys. Products are available for oil-based and aqueous systems.
