About the FBC™ System Compatible Program

CPVC domestic water, fire sprinkler, and industrial piping systems have been used successfully for more than 50 years in new construction, re-pipe and repair. CPVC products are ideally suited for these applications due to their outstanding corrosion resistance.

Occasionally, however, CPVC and PVC can be damaged by contact with chemicals found in some construction and ancillary products such as thread sealants, leak detectors, firestops, etc.  Because of this, the FBC™ System Compatible Program was created.

The FBC System Compatible Program is designed to test and monitor ancillary products on an ongoing basis to ensure chemical compatibility with FlowGuard Gold, BlazeMaster and Corzan CPVC piping systems.

All designated products qualify for the program by undergoing rigorous testing, which assures the product will not fail as a result of chemical incompatibility. Because CPVC products are made with base resins having different molecular weights and varying chlorine contents and compound additives, the FBC System Compatible Program can verify chemical compatibility only with the products with which they have been tested.

Products in the program display the FBC System Compatible mark on their label. This mark quickly assures installers that the product is chemically compatible with FlowGuard Gold, BlazeMaster and Corzan CPVC products. Only manufacturers that have passed these specific chemical compatibility tests are able to place the FBC compatible mark on their product labels. Product manufacturers agree to not change the formulation of the products accepted into the System Compatible program without advance written notice and to submit the products to periodic testing to ensure the product remains chemically compatible.

The FBC Compatible Program is the only known program of its kind in the industry designed to increase user confidence and help eliminate the guesswork about which products are chemically compatible. The program is in active use in the United States, Canada, Mexico, 25 European countries, the United Arab Emirates, India and China.

Other manufacturers and/or brands of CPVC piping products are not eligible and do not comply with this Program. CPVC products are made from compounds which may contain CPVC resins that have different molecular weights and different chlorine content and these factors can impact the performance of the resulting products. Additionally, CPVC compounds contain performance additives that affect the performance characteristics of the ancillary product. Thus, the FBC™ System Compatible program is only applicable to assess the chemical compatibility of products and materials with Lubrizol's FlowGuard Gold, BlazeMaster, Corzan, and HealthGuard CPVC and bears no liability for any failures that may occur if the products on the FBC System Compatible Program are used with CPVC products other than FlowGuard Gold, BlazeMaster, Corzan and HealthGuard.
